Snehana is an internal oileation technique used in the initial stage of panchakarma. It loosens and lubricates the doshas and facilitates the removal of toxins.
The two main fats/lubricants used are traditional ghee, which can be infused with herbs, and flax seed oil for vegans and those with high cholesterol.
Ghee contains a balance of easy-to-digest essential fatty acids essential for healthy skin, nerves, and cells.
It is used for Panchakarma and is also suggested for internal lubrication, which benefits the skin and connective tissues.
Flaxseed oil supports the immune system, is cholesterol-free, and aids digestion. It is rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, benefits the nervous system, and moisturizes the body both internally and externally.
